Tara Pringle Jefferson

Tara Pringle Jefferson is a writer, speaker, and self-care coach with a lifelong passion for building community. In 2015, Tara created a digital wellness community for Black women, called The Self Care Suite, now more than 1,200 members strong. The mission is to help members unlearn exhaustion as their default and develop self-care rituals in community to sustain themselves. The signature event of the Suite is Here We Grow, an affordable and accessible wellness weekend for Black women.

Tara is a double Kent State University graduate with a bachelor's in magazine journalism and a Master's in human development and family studies. In 2018 she won the Lady of Legacy award from the nonprofit Limitless Ambition for her work in wellness and community building. In 2016 she was recognized by her alma mater as a distinguished alumna for her work in the community with young mothers and women. In recent years, her voice and work has been featured on New York magazine/The Cut, Black Enterprise, Fortune and Essence.

Tara’s platform for self-care includes a series of workshops on stress reduction, time management and personal development. She’s delivered talks on wellness for WW (formerly Weight Watchers), SiriusXM, Wayfair and more. When she’s not working, she’s making runs to Trader Joe’s and trying to perfect her recipe for the perfect pound cake. Born and raised in the Midwest, she lives in Ohio with her husband and two children.
