Casting Society of America Hosts 2021 Open Call and Town Hall for Black Actors

This town hall is part of CSA’s Commitment to Equity in Entertainment in Casting Initiative, a series of conversations designed to effect concrete change in how actors in historically underrepresented communities are afforded access to job opportunities.

The event will be moderated by casting director Tracy “Twinkie” Byrd and actor Carla Renata.

Later in Black History month, the three-day open call will provide opportunities for professionally trained union and non-union Black actors to meet and read with CSA members.

From Friday thru Sunday, February 19-21, 2021, CSA members across the globe are opening their virtual casting offices to union and non-union Black actors. Actors will be given an opportunity to perform a prepared scene of their choice in front of a panel of professional casting directors. The open call will offer actors the opportunity to work with casting directors who are looking to expand their knowledge of underrepresented and undiscovered talent in a professional casting environment.
